Zoo Med ReptiTherm Under Tank Heater (U.T.H.), Medium
Reptiles, being ectothermic or "cold-blooded," rely on external heat sources to regulate their body temperature since they cannot generate their own warmth. They typically bask in sunlight in the wild to gain the necessary heat energy for their bodily functions.
The Zoo Med ReptiTherm Under Tank Heater replicates the natural radiant warmth of sun-heated surfaces, making it an ideal heat source for terrestrial reptiles, especially those active during nighttime hours. It serves effectively as either a primary or supplementary heating option.
Every Zoo Med Under Tank Heater is UL/cUL certified and features a reliable solid-state nichrome heating element for consistent performance.
Size: 8" x 12"
Power: 16 watts
Usage Guidelines:
Attach the Zoo Med ReptiTherm Under Tank Heater to one side (either left or right) of the terrarium to establish a thermal gradient. Ensure the heater spans about half of the terrarium floor and is sufficiently sized to cover your reptile’s full body length.
For optimal results, use this heat mat with a substrate layer thinner than 2 inches. If the substrate is thicker, consider an overhead heat source like a halogen basking bulb or a ceramic heat emitter, depending on your setup needs.
To maintain safe temperatures and avoid burns, it’s crucial to pair this heat mat with a thermostat like the Zoo Med ReptiTemp Digital Thermostat!
