What are hornworms? These are the larval stage of the Hawk Moth, also known as the Sphinx Moth (Manduca sexta). In their natural habitat, hornworms munch on leaves of plants like tomatoes, eggplants, and tobacco, often becoming a nuisance to gardeners. However, when raised in captivity, they serve as an excellent food source for reptiles, amphibians, and certain invertebrates that thrive on insects or mixed diets.

Each of our containers includes 12-24 tiny hornworms along with sufficient food to help them reach 1.5-2" in size in under a week. We ship smaller worms to ensure freshness upon arrival and to give you control over their growth rate. For rapid growth, maintain a temperature above 80 degrees; for moderate growth, keep at 72 degrees; or slow their development at 50 degrees.

Hornworms offer a balanced calcium-to-phosphorus ratio, eliminating the need for calcium dusting before feeding them to your pet.

Feeding Advisory: While hornworms can be a regular part of your pet’s diet, they shouldn’t be the sole food source. Pair them with higher-protein and fiber-rich feeders available at MorphMarket to ensure a well-rounded diet. Feeding only hornworms may lead to digestive issues like loose stools. Combining them with other feeders creates a healthier meal for your pet.

WARNING: Do not feed wild hornworms to your pets! The plants they consume in nature can be toxic and harmful to your animal.

Care Guidelines:

The container provided serves as a complete habitat for your hornworms. Upon receipt, invert the cup so the lid is at the bottom. The worms will climb the mesh to reach their food, while waste collects on the lid for easy cleanup. Ensure the lid has proper ventilation for airflow.

OUR CONTAINERS COME WITH SMALL WORMS FOR MAXIMUM FRESHNESS, BUT THEY CAN GROW TO FULL SIZE IN JUST A WEEK! WATCHING THEIR RAPID GROWTH IS A TREAT!
