Exo Terra Jungle Earth, available in a 4qt size, is a completely natural substrate crafted from pine bark. Ideal for humidity-dependent reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates from tropical or forested habitats, this substrate naturally maintains terrarium humidity by absorbing moisture and releasing it gradually. The finely ground bark encourages natural behaviors like digging and burrowing, enabling reptiles to create secure nesting areas mimicking their natural shelters.
While pine-based products are often criticized in the reptile community for potential volatile oils that could affect neurological health, Exo Terra Jungle Earth undergoes a kiln-drying process that significantly lowers these oils, ensuring safety for reptiles and other small pets (you’ll notice minimal pine scent upon opening). Additionally, the heat treatment minimizes bacterial risks, enhancing cleanliness.
How to Use:
Lay down a minimum 2” layer of bark across the terrarium base. Adjust moisture by watering or misting based on the desired humidity level.
Track humidity with an Exo Terra Hygrometer. Perform daily spot cleaning, use hot water for periodic rinsing of the substrate, and fully replace the bedding every 8 weeks or as needed.
