The Exo Terra Cricket Pen Large is perfect for storing, maintaining, and distributing live crickets. Crickets naturally seek out dark areas, so they will hide inside the provided tubes, which double as easy dispensing tools. When the lid is off, the tubes stay secure, offering simple access while minimizing the risk of crickets escaping.

Helpful Hint:

For extended cricket vitality, try “gut loading” or offer a piece of apple as a food source!

Usage Instructions

Use the pen as a cricket storage or transport container. Slide out a tube from the Exo Terra Cricket Pen and lower the flapper to block escapes. If necessary, cover the tube’s opening with your hand during transport to the terrarium. Uncover and lightly tap the tube to release the desired number of crickets. Only remove one tube at a time to prevent escapes.

Cricket Maintenance

Keep crickets in a ventilated space at 21-23 °C (70-75 °F) with minimal humidity. Avoid placing the pen in direct sunlight or near cold drafts. Ensure the pen remains clean and dry. Provide high-quality cricket food and water (gel) in the included shallow dishes at all times. If gel isn’t available, a damp sponge can substitute, but avoid plain water to prevent drowning.

Cleaning Guidelines

Regular cleaning of the unit is essential. Clear out all debris and waste, then rinse the entire pen with hot tap water. Avoid using soap or detergent, as residues could be harmful or fatal to crickets.
